There was significant peasant resistance to
colonial rule in India. This course is
conceived to convey the exploitation of the peasants and their resistance to
colonial rule to the students. In other words, it traces the history of peasant
resistance. It shows how the
socio-economic position of the peasantry proved to be a social force during the
mass movements, culminating in the independence of India.
